Fcuk Popeyes and their Chicken Sandwich

So, Popeyes Chicken has just relaunched their extremely popular Chicken Sandwich that cause mayhem earlier this year. Not surprisingly, all hell broke loose once again as people rushed to buy one. At many Popeyes restaurants across America, impatient patrons line up on foot and in cars for hours. Fighting broke out at several restaurants and at least one location one man was stabbed to death for budding in line.

All this excitement over deep fried Chicken wouldn’t be so bad if 90% of the crowd wasn’t Black but of course, Black people never fail to prove the age-old stereotype correct; we love us some Fried Chicken. On social media, white people are having a field-day with their racist comments. “Look at them savages go”, read a comment on WorldStar which was only one among many similar sentiments from white racists who love to come into Black media and spew hate when the occasion arises.

Most Black people who engage in this sort of consumerism don’t give a damn what Black Conscious people or white racist criticizers have to say. To them, its just another day in the Hood. Today its Chicken, tomorrow its Nike shoes. They respond to trends in Pop Culture because they have been trained over generations to follow what’s popular. If one is left out, he or she will feel a deep loss.

Personally, I couldn’t give a damn about #PopeyesChicken. I have several Popeyes Chicken restaurants around my city and while I have eaten there before, I have never tried their new sandwich nor do I intend to. I eat because I'm hungry, not because my friends or businesses tell me that I need to eat some new Chicken sandwich.
